5. THE ADD-ON’S AFTER THE DESIGN BRIEF CLIENT
To streamline the process between you and your next client, it is important that you automate what you can, as well as understand what needs to happen, when.
There are many Client Management Systems out there. Some of these include 17 Hats, Honeybook, and Dubsado.
Even though I am still mastering Dubsado, according to Katie, at Lazy Source Accounting, Dubsado is the best because it has the most tools that creative business owners need to run their businesses. Each of the three do have cons, but like I said Dubsado is the winner with the least. Research what you think would be best for you.
To learn how to set up Dubsado, view the video below. They also offer a link to click to set up an on-boarding call and they will walk you through any trouble spots.
The Accounting Side of Things
Knowing the accounting side of being a creative business owner can feel like a mystery! Especially, when that is usually not our strength.
If you don’t already, create a name for your business. If you are in the United States, you need to file a DBA or Doing Business As and register it in your county. When you are first starting out, sole proprietor is the title and filing that I used. You can also file an LLC with your State. An LLC protects your personal assets, and separates them from your business assets.
I am in the process of adding a new section to this module with the help of my friend Katie at the Lazy Source Accounting. She has a quick start session that you can utilize so that she can get you set up according to your business needs. It will be perfect for those that have no idea what accounting software to use with the CRM of their choice. I will email you as soon as this part of the curriculum is added.
