If you are a woman in business, you have to be resourceful, right?
I call myself the duck tape and paperclip girl of freelance, because I had to create a business with very little money and very little guidance. I have a feeling you know what I am talking about.
I spent years, 12 to be exact, taking word of mouth referrals and working with all kinds of professionals, but nothing felt like the right fit.
I also live in a small town and knew that I needed to branch out, HA! No pun intended! Sooooo... I started from scratch. I rebranded my business last June and collected very valuable resources along the way. I hunted down biz ladies that were doing it right. I became a Pinterest junkie and typed in keywords for my biz and found just what I was looking for!
I know the hard, long hours of searching for examples of client questionnaires, package pricing, other freelancers that created online businesses with passive income built in and...well, the list goes on and on. The following resources will help point you in the right direction. I am here to help those of you that have no idea where to start, who to hire, what apps to use and websites for DIY biz owners like me that juggle business and family. Check these out and decide for yourself which one fits you best.
After 4 years of using Wordpress, I made the switch last June and have not looked back. Many women with home based businesses don't have the desire to get under the hood of a website (so to speak) when they have kids to pick up and drop off, more interruptions that the average human and a business to run. This is an out of the box solution for busy boss ladies, that is uber professional and with a learning curve the size of a speed bump, this is my top choice for website platform. Everything is included too. Templates are in one place, and you have the ability to buy your domain name right there, as well as set up an online shop. If that interests you, you can fly it around the block for 14 days, for FREE.
Wordpress is an excellent platform for those that would like to be able to do a lot more customization to their site. A great resource for putting creative touches on your Wordpress blog, is Blog Beautiful by Marianne Manthey. You'll love all of her tips and tricks! She even has a great Facebook Community that I highly recommend. Her community is full of hardworking, creative women entrepreneurs that help and support each other. If you are not in any Facebook Groups, this would be a perfect place to start for business owners with a blog. This is also a great way to make connections with other like-minded biz owners. Networking this way is easy and powerful. Click here to request access.
